TV & INTERNET: Price for Culture Development

Dear Colleagues and Brothers,

Television (TV) and internet are far more than a form of entertainment and is often the cause of many arguments between parents and their children. They disagree not only about how much TV and internet services are acceptable but also about the kinds of programs and contents which are suitable for young people.

We all know how deep TV and internet addicted among our young generation nowadays. Neighbors are not caring each other due to lots of times were scheduled for watching TV and browse of websites. Well, how easy it is collapse in front of the TV and laptop after a hard day at school or campus; but this is often at the expense of more worthwhile activities.

TV and internet are very tempting when the alternative is a huge pile of homework assignments or helping out with household chores. It may also stop us from joining in healthy, outdoor activities, such as swimming or sports. Instead of running around in the fresh air and mixing with other young people from different races, religious and roots. In conjunction with our Prime Minister Administration vision and mission: 1 Malaysia concept; I am desirous to highlight; it was a big challenges nowadays.

The TV and internet addict sits slumped in an armchair, probably doing great damage to their eyesight. There are only so many hours in a day and the more time we spend watching TV and internet browsing the less time we have for our family gathering or study!

There is much concern these days about the kind of programs or contents that are appeared on TV or websites. Sex and violence are brought into our accommodation. The effect on young people, who have yet to experience the world, can be damaging. They may also be exposed to language and brutally ideas which are unsuitable for their tender years and growth.

However, TV and Internet have a great deal to offer the young. For many people it is the only chance they have of seeing what life is like in other parts of the world. In learning geography, history, science and general knowledge such as current barbarian mind set and 3rd class mentality Malaysia opposition parties; all under our finger tips. Open our TV set or browses the internet.

TV and Internet are also fun, and there is no reason why that should be a bad thing. On its screen we can see and find out our favorite music likes Metallica, Yngwie Mulmsteen, Raihan and others; also Anthony Robbins motivation speech that we probably never have the chance to see in real life. At the end of the day it is very relaxing to be entertained and motivated by many different types of program and scope.

There was nothing wrong with TV and internet, but, like many things, it must be used with care. Too much TV and internet is bad for everybody, not just children, youth, student, etc. We must be careful not to have too much of what is really a very good thing. In other words; over limit! Many of young people nowadays have difficulties in resisting such temptation, so it is up to their parents to regulate TV and Internet usage at their house.

Never blame a day in your life. Good days give you happiness. Bad days give you experience. Both are essential in life. Have a pleasant day and take care!

Yours faithfully;

MKR
